Cat Care Assistant
Animal Ark seeks qualified candidates at our shelter in Hastings for a part-time Cat Care Assistant position.
The position includes weekdays and weekends.
7:00 am to 12:00 pm on weekdays
7:00 am to 11:00 am weekends
*Hours may vary. The preferred applicant would have a flexible schedule.
** Because we house live animals who need care daily, the applicant must be reliable and able to work holidays
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- feeding cats
- cleaning cat condos/cages
- scooping, cleaning litter boxes
- washing dishes
- sweeping, mopping, vacuuming
- socializing cats
* To succeed in this position, you must love cats of all temperaments and enjoy cleaning.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old
- Able to lift 40 pounds, be physically able to bend, kneel and go up and down stairs frequently during shift.
- Candidates must be passionate about animals and committed to our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals.
- Have reliable transportation.

Kennel Assistant
Animal Ark seeks qualified candidates at our shelter in Hastings for a kennel staff attendant.
The kennel staff at Animal Ark shelter provides care and performs activities for dogs while functioning cooperatively with other attendants and supervisors.
The position includes weekdays and weekends.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Animal handling – must be able to work with dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old
- Communication – verbal and written
- Team player
- Preferred: experience with dogs
- Must have a passion for animals and be committed to our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position will be working in both indoor and outdoor areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be higher in certain areas.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary to meet the minimum job requirements of this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete care and maintenance of animals on premises, and the facility, including but not limited to:
- Feeding/watering animals
- Cleaning dog suites and kennels
- Cleaning up accidents
- Cleaning play equipment, play yards, and elimination yards
- Cleaning floors
- Cleaning and maintaining the dog kitchen, laundry room, and maintenance closet.
- Laundry and Dishes
- Reporting animal abnormalities to management
- Perform other maintenance/cleaning assigned by the Shelter Manager
- Responsible for ensuring the daily activities of dogs are complete
